McKenzy Cresswell Excited To Debut In Ultra-Competitive GB3 Championship At Oulton Park

McKenzy Cresswell has shared his excitement at what is set to be a highly-competitive season in the GB3 Championship in partnership with the BRDC, which blasts into life this coming Easter weekend (April 16/18) at Oulton Park.

Graduating into the UK’s premier single-seater series with Chris Dittmann Racing for 2022, the 16-year-old is looking to build on what was a sensational maiden car racing debut in British F4 last year which included six wins.

Boasting no less than six championship winners, a Formula 1 Junior, several BRDC Superstars and BRDC Rising Stars, the forthcoming GB3 campaign is one of the most competitive of the modern era and further strengthens the argument that the championship possesses one of the most talented grids of any regional class single-seater categories in 2022.

Armed with a brand-new car to get to grips with, Surrey racer Cresswell has completed plenty of testing miles as he gears up for the next chapter in his fledgling career.

Away from testing, the off-season has seen also Cresswell enlisted onto the prestigious BRDC Rising Star and Motorsport UK Academy programmes. Both initiatives are designed to elevate young drivers to that next level.

McKenzy Cresswell: “I’m excited to finally be kicking off the season at Oulton Park this weekend; it feels like an eternity since I announced I was stepping up to GB3 so to now be a few days away from the first race is pretty cool. The grid is full of proven race winners and I'm looking forward to testing myself against the very best at this level.

“Since the turn of the year we’ve been working through a pretty comprehensive testing schedule. We’ve clocked plenty of miles and now have a good understanding of the aero impact of the new car.

“To be coming into the season as a BRDC Rising Star and part of the Motorsport UK Academy is something I am very proud of as well; I’m confident that being part of both initiatives will see me raise my game both on and off the track.

“Heading to Oulton Park I’m feeling confident; after all it was a happy hunting ground for me last year as it is where I scored my first win."

The GB3 Championship partnered by the BRDC kicks off this Saturday with qualifying and race one before recommencing on Easter Monday for races two and three.

All races will be streamed live on the official MSV TV YouTube channel. To view the full event timetable, click here.
