McKenzy Cresswell Signs With Elite Motorsport For 2023 GB3 Championship Title Challenge

McKenzy Cresswell will return to the GB3 Championship presented by the BRDC in 2023 after putting pen to paper on a deal that will see him drive for race-winning outfit Elite Motorsport.

Set to embark on what will be his sophomore campaign in Britain’s premier single-seater series, the 16-year-old joins the impressive Thetford-based squad after spending 2022 with Chris Dittmann Racing.

In what proved to be a character-building maiden season in the championship, Cresswell - who is a BRDC Rising Star and part of the Motorsport UK Academy - produced a number of standout drives to ultimately finish on the fringes of the top ten.

One of the highlights of the year came at the world-famous Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium where the Surrey teenager clinched a memorable podium finish.

Now with a years’ worth of experience under his belt, the former British F4 race winner is setting his sights on becoming a front runner on a regular basis; battling for podiums, wins and the championship crown.

Cresswell has already began preparations for the forthcoming season by taking part in a post-2022 test day, as well as embedding himself into the team - something that is only set to continue over the course of the coming months.

McKenzy Cresswell: “I’m excited to be returning to the GB3 Championship in 2023! There were a couple of options on the table for next year but when it became apparent that we could get a deal done with Elite it was a no-brainer and I’m glad we’ve been able to get things signed off.

“This past season was very much a learning year for me and I’m grateful for the experience I was able to gain with CDR. Come the start of the season I’ll be able to hit the ground running and that’s critical.

“Elite have shown that they are capable of battling for race wins and that’s what I want to be doing in 2023. I’m fully focused on fighting for victories and ultimately the championship; I’m confident we’ve got everything we need to be title challengers.

“Before any of that though we’ve got an extensive pre-season testing programme to work through which I’m looking forward to. Those pre-season miles will be critical in ensuring we’re in the best position possible come round one.”

The 2023 GB3 Championship presented by the BRDC will commence at Oulton Park on April 7-10 before embarking on a campaign that includes visits to Silverstone, Spa Francorchamps, Brands Hatch and Zandvoort.
